Bruce the Spruce

I asked myself, Is it possible to write a rhyming poem in stream-of-consciousness?

Hmm… First I chose a structure: a Cethramtu Rannaigechta Moire, an Irish poetic form that requires 3 syllable lines in quatrains. The second and fourth lines rhyme.

Then I opened a tab in Rhymezone and typed in “spruce” — the Stream-of-Consciousness Saturday prompt for this week.

Here goes:

Name you “Bruce”

Quite a name
For a tree

  1. Sally, your playful exploration of a rhyming poem in a stream-of-consciousness style is delightful! The choice of the form adds an intriguing touch, and your whimsical naming of the Christmas tree as “Bruce the Spruce” is both clever and charming. The flow of the poem captures the joy and warmth of the holiday season effortlessly.

  2. Your poem is a delight! And your tree is beautifully decorated! We have all the special ornaments on our tree this year. We took a bunch of decorations to son#2 who has his first Christmas tree this year (now that he has a real house and a place to put it)!!
