5:30 AM

Doors open
Gentle rill
Steady Stream
Come — they will

Some yawning
Some to swim
Some to lift
In the gym

They come here
Start their day
In the most
Healthy way

Surge has passed
Quiet, still —
Then more come —
Gentle rill

Tanka Tuesday prompt: use synonyms of Flow and Wave

This describes my mornings at the front desk at the gym.

    1. I’m not sure if you’re American or not, but I first learned the “rill” in “My Country, ‘tis of Thee”. It’s in one of the later verses — “I love thy rocks and rills, thy woods and templed hills”

      1. I am American, but didn’t know the word, “rill” was so beautifully portrayed in My Country, ’tis of Thee. Thanks for sharing that bit of knowledge. I appreciate it.

    1. It’s funny — I work AT the gym but I don’t often work OUT at the gym. Like you, I’m a walker and a swimmer. Yesterday, though, I worked out in the weight room. I’m a little sore today but it felt really good.
