Lesley Scoble challenged us to write an Ekphrastic Poem based on a piece of music from Wagner’s Tristan and Isolde. Challenge is very much the operative word here.
I ended up with a concrete poem –a poem makes active use of the arrangement of the words to create a visual art object — that depicts a crescendo. Life is just one big crescendo and descrescendo.

Well done. Very touching. ☕
i can ”feel ” the crescendo and the descrescendo. Excitement, thrill the drastically falling.
Thanks, Barbara
This is such a clever take, I felt the lift and fall into sadness …. Well done 👏

I’m so glad it worked. I struggled with this.
Bravo! So well done, Sally.
Thank you so much
Nice job! I can never get the spacing right to do this kind of poem! Kudos and I love the way the poem goes from first contact to final farewell…
Thank you, Valerie! I tried a few ways to write the poem — one of them remarkably like yours — but couldn’t get anything I was satisfied with. (Yours is lovely, by the way.) When I tried this format, it seemed to work.
This is a wonderful poem and you’ve presented it so uniquely.
Thank you! I struggled with how to express what the music made me feel. It was a good challenge.
You’re very welcome 🙏
The style you chose for your poem perfectly fits the sentiment. Well done!
“heavy discussions, heavy decisions”
Wow. Sally, this is amazing. I’m so impressed with what you did with this piece… no simple feat!

Love rises and falls…like life. (K)
Wow. 👏 I’ve never seen this form before. What you’ve done here is incredible, Sally. The poem is touching, raw and real. I’m very moved.🌹
Sally, I repeated myself twice commenting… Don’t know if you’re getting my comments… 🤷
I’m glad you said something! Your comment went to spam. I’m not sure why — but I retrieved it and thank you for it
Thanks for letting me know. I was writing yet another attempt! Phew. 💖
Very cool structure, for a poignant write.
