Hmm… Which country?
My May 2017 trip to France was amazing. My father had long wanted to visit Normandy, so my husband, my brother, my sister and her husband, and I all made it happen last May. The family time alone made it very special.
In France, Normandy stole my heart. The sacred ground —
And its rural charm —
But Croatia was also lovely.
How can I forget walking the city wall in Dubrovnik?
Or swimming in the Adriatic where the water was so cold it took my breath away?
If Bosnia-Herzegovina was in the mix, the people would make a pretty strong case. Golly, I love them.
But it’s France vs Croatia.
It will be decided by a bunch of men kicking a ball around on a field.
I don’t know who to cheer for.

Oh how I understand the dilemma! If England had triumphed yesterday I would have been asking the same question. But as things turned out it’s Allez les Bleus chez nous. That said, I couldn’t begrudge Croatia the crown if it goes that way … such a tiny population that has suffered so much – I hope all my French friends would agree. 🇫🇷 🇭🇷
The truth is I just like watching the game — and my favorite games were when my kids played (at a much lower level, of course.)
We call it ‘The Beautiful Game’ – I tend to agree. But any game our children play is a beautiful game, rather think. Email will follow if not this evening then tomorrow. And all is well.
Both are beautiful countries.
I’m admittedly indifferent to the game. It does please me that Russia was knocked out of it, though- denying Tsar Vladimir the chance to gloat is a service to humanity.
